Ammonites were shelled cephalopods that died out about 66 million years ago, and their fossils are found all around the world. Thanks to fossil records, they were believed to have lived during the Mesozoic Era (about 400 to 65 million years ago). At the end of the Cretaceous Period, an asteroid collided with Earth, triggering a global mass extinction. Groundwater containing high amounts of calcium carbonate would fill the voids and create crystals. The original shell material (usually aragonite) is unstable and, over millions of years, would often dissolve, leaving a void that is filled with minerals, most commonly quartz or calcite.

This stunning crystal is a versatile and thoughtful gift that can be given for a wide range of occasions. It's a perfect choice for kids, both boys and girls, as well as for adults celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and housewarmings. It also makes a great present for mothers, fathers, and teachers who appreciate the beauty of nature and the outdoors. The crystal's unique and eye-catching design is sure to impress any recipient and will be a treasured keepsake for years to come.
